Hammersmith Bridge to reopen to pedestrians and cyclists. The 134-year-old crossing was entirely closed last August when cracks in the pedestals worsened during a heatwave. Engineers have given the go-ahead after completing safety investigations and thanks to the success of a system to control the structure’s temperature. Both local authorities on either side of the bridge said they were pleased it was now safe to reopen partially. Some 12,000 pedestrians and 4,000 cyclists used it each day before the closure. The bridge has been closed indefinitely to motorists since April 2019 when “critical faults” in the cast-iron casing were found. British Airways Reveals Special Blue Livery

UK flag carrier British Airways has revealed a special blue livery for one of its Airbus A320neo aircraft. At the launch of its ‘BA Better World’ sustainability initiative, the airline displayed the freshly-painted narrowbody at its Heathrow headquarters. With this initiative, BA hopes to set the standard for a more sustainable airline sector. The Airbus A320neo with the registration G-TTNA is the jet on which British Airways has decided to display its unique ‘BA Better World’ livery. This is one of 15 A320neos in the BA fleet, according to ch-aviation.com. Seven more are on the way from the oneworld founding member. The average age of these 180-seat twin jets is 2.3 years.

Air Astana resume flights to Heathrow Airport

Air Astana has announced plans to resume flights from Kazakhstan’s capital Nur-Sultan (formerly Astana) to London Heathrow Airport next month. The flag carrier will offer a twice weekly service from September 18, with the following schedules: Plane with Flight number KC945 will depart Nur-Sultan at 05:15 on Wednesdays and Saturdays, landing into London Heathrow Airpor at 07:30 Plane with Flight number KC946 will depart London Heathrow Airpor at 12:35 on Wednesdays (13:15 on Saturdays), arriving back into Nur-Sultan at 15:45 the following day The route will be operated by Air Astana’s A321LR aircraft, which offer 16 Thomson Vantage seats in business class, including the sought-after “throne seats” with direct aisle access.
